Christmas Through The Year

I finally finished a few gifts for Christmas.  It feels great! I made a Christmas runner and some heart bookmarks.  You can get directions for the bookmarks at Sew Many Ways -heart-bookmark .  I have no idea what to make next..... maybe ornaments.

Thanks to Darlene and Cheryl for all the work they're doing.
Have a great week!

One Flower Wednesday and FMQ

I just finished my flower - stop by at Karen's One Flower Wednesday to see how everyone's garden is growing.  I need to get organized!!!  I may have joined too many things but I'm having fun and learning LOTS.  I've even finished 2 UFO's.....and tried, for the first time, free motion quilting.

I'm following the FMQ Challenge at Sew Cal Gal and these heart leaves were the first tutorial.  It was hard to keep an even speed on pedal,  a light touch with the hands and remember the pattern.  I'm pretty good at multi-tasking at work but when my husband, daughter or dog spoke (barked) to me I would lose concentration and the pattern.  With practice I'll be able to ignore them
.............Oh! I meant quilt better.
Have a great week!

Building Houses From Scraps

My neighborhood has doubled - I now have 4 houses and have picked out a blue/black sashing fabric and a dark red cornerstone.  I plan to do a house (or so) a week and make a wall hanging/lap quilt out of my six inch squares.

Thank you for sharing photos of your houses.  I enjoy visiting all the neighborhoods and seeing what's in the windows.      Happy House Building!

Snow's been falling an inch or so an hour AND it's been a few hours...

Building houses from scraps

Out of SCRAPS................

My first two houses!

I decided to make the houses a little bigger.  They're about 6 inches square and are paper pieced.  Visit Jeanneke at Building houses from scraps to see all the houses that are being 'built'.

One Flower Wednesday

Two more flowers for my garden, a great accomplishment considering the other projects I worked on didn't work out so well.  I was paper piecing 2 blocks that were suppose to come out to the same size....well one was 6 inches and the other was only 5 inches.  My husband said  'I can't believe you didn't notice that sooner.' Well, the 5" was not just one piece of paper you added on to - you had to combine papers together to get the finished pieced (1st time I did this).  Next time, hopefully, I won't assume the pattern is correct.

Maybe next time I'll tell you about updating my blog and what my daughter said about darker background colors................How about now:  My daughter said it's like a how a moth is attracted to a flame,,,old ladies see all these color options and are drawn to them and so they decide to pick the darkest one so you can't even read what they write.  I know I have no trouble with the dark backgrounds, I really like them - maybe I'll try one next time....when she's not helping me.

A Visit from the Little Quiltghost

Today the Little Quiltghost came for a visit a brought me my 100th siggy!  Such a cute ghost and he made my day - I love getting siggy mail!  Thank you Marjolein and the Little Quiltghost.

One Flower Wednesday

Two flowers this week - Yeah!  It's a great start to the New Year.

Also I'd thought I'd share a picture of the hexie ornament (two-sided) I made for a friend.
I almost forgot to take a picture - the background is a car seat.

Visit Karen at One Flower Wednesday to see more hexies.

99 Siggies in 2011

Thank you for the beautiful siggies and sharing a little about yourself.  I love coming home from work and hearing my family say 'you have siggy mail!'  It really brightens my day.  I've been working on my sigggies and should be ready to swap again soon.
